WHY THESE STUDIES?
GEORGE CARD
Why I created these studies? Because as a minister of the gospel I am duty bound to teach what I believe the word of God teaches, without regard of what others may teach or caring for any official denomination statement of belief. I am not going to defend the ideas of any person or any church; I am simply going to the Bible and see what the Bible truly teaches. If others agree or disagree with what I teach, that is not my concern.
Of course I am only human and I do not have perfect knowledge or understanding, so it is quite possible that I am mistaken in some of my interpretations of the scriptures. But the possibility that I am wrong cannot stop me from writing what I believe to be the proper interpretation of the Bible regarding certain subjects. What I offer here is what I believe God has shown me in the scriptures. If at a later time God reveals to me thru his word, that I was mistaken, I am quite willing to accept it and make the appropriate changes.
Some of the subjects are easier than others and some are quite difficult to discuss because of their controversial nature. Why not simply let others teach on the controversial subjects? Because as a preacher of God’s word I must teach the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27), even those subjects that I would prefer not to touch.
Yes my findings may go against what many people have been taught, but my duty is not to what some people have taught or what seems to be right, but to what really the Bible says. Whether people agree or disagree is not important, what is important is what does the Bible really says.
Some people and ministers might disagree with some of my writings and that is fine, I accept that. But I hope that they will be gracious enough to explain to me their disagreements instead of immediately condemning me as a heretic, unbeliever or much worse. I am willing to consider other points of view, but that does not mean that I will simply change my views to please some preacher or denomination. I need clear and reasonable biblical arguments of why my views are wrong. Angry accusations, hateful rhetoric or spiteful condemnations cannot take the place of proper reasonable arguments backed with solid scriptural references.
If anyone reading these biblical studies disagrees, then you are welcome to send your biblical arguments backed by well reasoned textual exegesis and evidence. The old argument, that I am wrong because you say so or your denomination says so, just isn’t valid at all. In the old times threats were used to force people to comply with religious ideas and when threats failed to produce the desired result then violence was used under some false justification.
I have been yelled and screamed at before because I refused to conform to some religious ideas, well I am not seeking the approval of men; I am seeking the approval of God alone. I am not impressed by men who called themselves “Apostle” so and so, prophet “such and such” or whatever, those are meaningless titles unless given by God himself. Paul the Apostle was beaten and imprisoned for his religious ideas, and some even threaten to kill him, but he refused to recant a single word. I have no intention to back down from what have I written here, no matter if the whole religious world disagrees with me.
